Video is an extremely powerful tool for use in the classroom, but also causes more technical problems than most other classroom ICTs.
There is a wide range of cameras, all requiring different methods and cables for connecting to computers. The range of batteries and chargers are a problem in the classroom, often resulting in flat batteries at the time when the camera needs to be used.
File sizes are often huge, overloading school servers and networks. There is a plethora of confusing file formats and codecs. Editing software ranges from free to absurdly expensive, and enormous amounts of time are often required for this process.
These pages are designed to be a simple, straightforward guide aimed at giving teachers information that should make the use of video within general learning programs simple and far less confusing. They are not designed to be used within a high end video production course.
