Acid XPress

Acid Xpress is free loop editing software that can be downloaded from Sony. It is a cut down version of Acid Pro software, but is quite adequate for the purposes we want to use it for here.

Getting Loops

You will need some music loops to use with Acid XPress. They can be purchased, but there are usually free ones that can be downloaded from various sites. The free version of Acid XPress is limited to 20 uses of mp3 files, but for our purposes here we will use .wma files. In the free version of Acid XPress you need to set your Sample Rate for .wma down to 32.000 Hz. (Note that you can use programs such as Audacity to convert mp3 loops to wav files, or you can use SuperC to convert mp3 to wma in bulk)

To create music, simply drag some loops up to the left side of the track area, then use the draw tool to draw out where you want your loops to play. You can fade tracks in or out by hovering over the upper left or upper right corner of a track until the cursor looks like this: Then drag to create a fade.

Once you are finished, click File > Render As from the menu and save it as a .wma file type.
