Drawing Tools

Start by experimenting with each of these drawing tools. Make sure you look at the options that are available.

Line Tool

 

 Circle and Rectangle Tools

When drawing with these tools, your shapes have both a fill and a stroke (outline). 

 

 Pen Tool

The pen tool is for drawing straight lines or precise curves.

Your cursor looks like this at the beginning of a new path.  Click once, then click again to make a line.  Continue clicking as you go.  To make a point the last one for a line, double click, or click on the pen tool again.

To make a curve, click one point.  Then click and drag the handles on the second point.

 

Pencil Tool

The pencil tool is for drawing as you would with a pencil.

You can choose from Options to have your line straightened, smoothed or ink style.

 

Brush Tool

The brush tool has options that let you paint with different brush styles and also to paint inside objects, behind them, selected objects etc.

 

Paint Bucket Tool

This is used to fill existing areas, such as a square.

The paint bucket options let you fill gaps of varying sizes.

You can also use the paint bucket to make a gradient fill

Ink Bottle Tool

The ink bottle tool can be used to apply a stroke to an object.

 

Eraser Tool

The eraser tool has a number of useful options, such as erasing lines, fills, inside.  The faucet option works like the bucket fill tool, but erases.

 

 Free Transform Tool
