To add text

  • Choose the text tool, , then click on the image where you want the text to appear.
  • Type the text
  • Select the text box, and use the property inspector to set the font, size, colour etc.

To edit the text, right click on the text and choose Editor.  Alternatively, you can double click on your text frame and edit the text directly.

To split the text over multiple lines, open the text editor, put your cursor after the word where you want the split.  Hold Shift and press Enter.

To make your text vertical, use the alignment options in the property inspector.

By using the Effects option of the property inspector, you can add shadows, embossing and many other special effects to your text.

 

Attaching Text to a Path

To create curved text, you need to attach it to a path. 

  Choose the pen tool.
Click once at the left edge of the canvas, hold Shift (to keep the line straight) and click once on the right edge of the canvas.
With the pen tool still selected, click and drag the handle on the right to make a curve.

Later on, you can adjust your curve if you want using the subselection tool

Type some text
Hold the Shift key and click on the text frame and the path so that both are selected.
From the menus choose:

Text > Attach to Path

  To detach your text from its path, choose Text > Detach from Path
