The tool we will use for knowledge modelling in these notes is the IHMC CMapTools Knowledge Modelling Kit.  It is a piece of software that can be obtained free of charge (for educational or non profit purposes) from http://cmap.ihmc.us/

The CmapTools program enables users to construct, navigate, share and critique knowledge models represented as concept maps. It allows users to construct their Cmaps in their personal computer, share them on servers (CmapServers) anywhere on the Internet, link their Cmaps to other Cmaps on servers, automatically create web pages of their concept maps on servers, edit their maps at the same time with other users on the network or internet, and search the web for information relevant to a concept map.

Steps to constructing a concept map:

• Step 1: Capture all your ideas and knowledge

• Step 2: Arrange them and link them

• Step 3: Enhance your map to promote understanding

• Step 4: Review it and get feedback from others.
