Saving your Blend files as 3D Images
You can save your Blender scenes as images that you can use in other applications. When saving your work, you should always save a copy as a .blend file so that you can always reopen it later in Blender and change any of the information about your scene, lighting etc.
To save a still image, you need a rendered scene (You will need to add lighting).
Star Blender and add a cone. Make sure that you can see the cone in camera view and that you have added lighting. Before rendering the image, set the size of the image. You will need to do this with the display buttons. Make it about 600 wide.
Now render the image (F12) and press Esc to hide the window.
To set the file format for your image, show the display buttons, and click the 'Targa' button. You will get a choice of file formats. Still images can only be saved as Targa or Jpegs. Choose Jpeg if you want your image for a web page.
Now click File > Save Image and choose the folder where you want your image saved.
